Infra projects to decongest Bangalore traffic

The Bangalore Corporation has decided to launch a slew of infrastructure initiatives to decongest the city traffic.
The Standing Committee for Taxation and Finance Chairman, Mr G Manjuanth Raju, in his BBMP (Bangalore Corporation) Budget 2011-12 has emphasised the need for taking up infrastructure work in Bangalore city.
These include, five major flyovers/grade separators at Banashankari temple and ring road junction in South Bangalore, Sony World junction at Koramangala in East Bangalore, Maramma circle at Malleshwaram and Chord road and VatalNagaraj road at Rajajinagar in West Bangalore.
Seven underpasses are proposed at 5th block Jayanagar, 3rd and 4th Phase J.P.Nagar in South Bangalore. Hosur-Begur junction, Bhasyam Circle-Sadashivanagar, Shivananda circle, Fountain Circle-Okalipuram, Rani-Chennamma Circle.
Seven signal free corridors at various locations. Road widening works at Mission road, Begur road, Tanery road, Bannerghatta road, Hennur ring road to Kannur ring road, Abbigere to Lakshmipura, Chikkabanavara to Ganigarahalli, Vidyaranyapura road, Halagevaderahalli to Pantarapalya, Thindlu road.
Around Rs 55 crore has been earmarked in the Budget 2011-12 for road widening and other improvement works. About Rs 2 crore is proposed for the construction of “PalikeBhavan” and Rs 3 crore for the beautification of in and around “Majestic Area”.
Around Rs 36.15 crore is proposed for the construction of hospitals, maternity homes while Rs 13.92 crore for the construction of education buildings
